The books of 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus are known as the “pastoral letters” of the New Testament. The apostle Paul wrote all three of these letters. He wrote them to his “spiritual sons” Timothy and Titus. Both of these men pastored churches Paul had established.
In these letters, Paul urged the young pastors to lead with humility and integrity. He wanted them to employ sound teaching in their churches. He wanted them and their congregations to live God-pleasing lives. He gave them essential, practical instructions and fatherly encouragement. He shared timeless truths, relevant for believers of any time and culture.
